Audio files contain certain details, which make it possible for media players to display the song's artist, album, year and so on. Certain files may not contain such information and you can not fix this issue with standard Windows tools. The best solution is a tag editor. Kid3 can meet your demands, if you want to add or edit tag information, rename audio files or perform other related actions.

The application is free and you can use it on Windows, Mac and Linux platforms. Instead of going through an installation procedure, you just need to extract the application's files from an archive, which is about 8 and a half MB.

After you load your audio files into the interface, you will find various details for each song, from title to genre. The application displays information from ID3 v1.1 and ID3 v2.3.0 tags separately. You may copy and paste individual details from one tag to another or select certain formats, to rename your files, using the information from the first or second tag.

If your files do not contain any tag information, you can import it from various online databases, such as Amazon, Discogs and others. Alternatively, you may add a few details from the file names. Additional features can be found in the Tools menu. You can use them to number your tracks, filter them, convert tags from one format to another or rename the folder which contains your loaded music.

You can discover many other functions, while using Kid3. Besides changing specific details, you may also change the text's encoding. The interface looks quite simple, but if you access the application's tools or general settings menu, you will find various features, which can be very useful.
